On May 21, Zambian President Hichilema attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Lusaka-Ndola two-way four-lane highway upgrade project held in Kapirimposhi, Central Province. Minister Counselor Wang Sheng attended and delivered a speech on behalf of Ambassador Du Xiaohui. Zambian Minister of Science and Technology Mutati, Minister of Green Economy and Environment Nzovu, and Minister of Transport and Logistics Tayali attended the branch ceremony in Lusaka, Chibombu and Luanshya respectively.
President Hichilema said that the upgrade of the Lusaka-Ndola road has promoted youth employment and saved people’s lives. The upgraded Loon Highway will not only benefit all Zambians, but also the entire Southern African Community. Minister Counselor Wang said that the Lusaka-Ndola road upgrading and reconstruction project is another important project for China-Zambia cooperation following the China-Zambia Cooperation High-Quality Development Forum on May 15.
