The production process of emulsified bitumen can be divided into the following four processes: bitumen preparation, soap preparation, bitumen emulsification, and emulsion storage. The appropriate emulsified bitumen outlet temperature should be around 85°C.

According to the use of emulsified bitumen, after selecting the appropriate bitumen brand and label, the bitumen preparation process is mainly the process of heating the bitumen and maintaining it at a suitable temperature.

1. Preparation of bitumen
Bitumen is the most important component of emulsified bitumen, generally accounting for 50%-65% of the total mass of emulsified bitumen.

2.Preparation of soap solution
According to the required emulsified bitumen, select the appropriate emulsifier type and dosage as well as the additive type and dosage, and prepare the emulsifier aqueous solution (soap). Depending on the emulsified bitumen equipment and the type of emulsifier, the preparation process of the aqueous solution (soap) of the emulsifier also differs.

3. Emulsification of bitumen
Put a reasonable proportion of bitumen and soap liquid into the emulsifier together, and through mechanical effects such as pressurization, shearing, grinding, etc., the bitumen will form uniform and fine particles, which will be dispersed stably and evenly in the soap liquid to form water pockets. Oil bitumen emulsion.
Temperature control during the bitumen preparation process is very important. If the bitumen temperature is too low, it will cause the bitumen to have high viscosity, difficulty in flow, and thus emulsification problems. If the bitumen temperature is too high, it will cause aging of the bitumen on the one hand, and also make the emulsified bitumen at the same time. The outlet temperature is too high, which affects the stability of the emulsifier and the quality of the emulsified bitumen.
The temperature of the soap solution before entering the emulsification equipment is generally controlled between 55-75°C. Large storage tanks should be equipped with a stirring device to stir regularly. Some emulsifiers that are solid at room temperature need to be heated and melted before preparing soap. Therefore, the preparation of bitumen is crucial.

4. Storage of emulsified bitumen
The emulsified bitumen comes out of the emulsifier and enters the storage tank after cooling. Some emulsifier aqueous solutions need to add acid to adjust the pH value, while others (such as quaternary ammonium salts) do not.

To slow down the segregation of emulsified bitumen. When the emulsified bitumen is sprayed or mixed, the emulsified bitumen is demulsified, and after the water in it evaporates, what is actually left on the road is the bitumen. For fully automatic continuous emulsified bitumen production equipment, each component of the soap (water, acid, emulsifier, etc.) is automatically completed by the program set by the production equipment itself, as long as the supply of each material is ensured; for semi- Continuous or intermittent production equipment requires manual preparation of soap according to formula requirements.
