When using asphalt mixing plants for production, we all hope to obtain high-quality asphalt mixtures that are consistent with the results in the laboratory; another goal is naturally to reduce production costs as much as possible. How easy is this? In the laboratory, various conditions are controlled and productivity is much lower than in reality... In addition, the technology used for batching and drying aggregates has a significant impact on production quality and cost.

Asphalt mixing plants below 2000 are usually used for local construction roads or municipal maintenance and repair, while those above 3000 are mostly used in large-scale road projects such as highways, national roads, and provincial roads, and the construction period of these projects is usually tight.

1. Improve productivity: The quality of aggregates directly affects the productivity of the asphalt mixing plant. Therefore, the quality should be strictly controlled when purchasing raw materials to avoid affecting the output due to waiting materials and overflow. Another factor affecting the productivity of the asphalt mixing plant is the main burner. The drying drum of the asphalt mixing plant is designed with a special heating zone. If the flame shape cannot match the heating zone, it will seriously affect the heating efficiency and thus affect the productivity of the mixing plant. Therefore, if the flame shape is found to be poor, it should be adjusted in time.
2. Reduce fuel consumption: Fuel costs account for a large proportion of the operating costs of asphalt mixing plants. In addition to taking necessary waterproofing measures for aggregates, it is to improve the operating efficiency of the combustion system. The combustion system of the asphalt mixing plant consists of the main burner, drying drum, dust collector and induced draft system. The reasonable matching between them plays a decisive role in the full combustion of the fuel. Whether the flame length and diameter of the burner match the combustion zone of the drying drum, the exhaust temperature, etc. directly affect the fuel consumption of the burner. Some data show that for every 5°C above the specified temperature of the aggregate temperature, the fuel consumption increases by about 1%. Therefore, the aggregate temperature should be sufficient, and it should not exceed the specified temperature.
3. Strengthen maintenance: The working environment of the asphalt mixing plant is harsh, and daily maintenance is essential. As the saying goes, "70% depends on quality and 30% depends on maintenance." If the maintenance is not in place, the maintenance cost, especially the overhaul cost, will be very high. During daily inspections, small problems should be dealt with in a timely manner to avoid small problems from becoming major failures.
